ltz50 quad no power

Kingquad450, you said that the lt-z50 does 24mph with the 90 CDI, then later you say it goes 30mph. Is that because you were estimating the difference due to the 48 tooth rear sprocket you added? Would you do the same size sprocket if you were to do it again? I was thinking of doing the same thing, 48th sprocket and 90 the CDI box.

The 24 mph was with me on it with factory gearing going down a slight grade. The 30 mph was an estimate with 200#'s less on the seat I came up with the estimate by the difference in the axle rpm from the factory cdi to the 90 cdi, it almost doubled the speed. I used a rotay rpm tach to measured it with.
The speed was measured with a handheld gps unit when I was riding it. With the 48 tooth the sped with him riding was around 18-19 mph on the level ground and 10 mph climing hills and that was measured from the speedo of my Kingquad.
As far as the sprocket size it depends on the riding terrian for climbing hills like we do I wouldn't go any smaller

Thanks for the reply. We go to the sand dunes and with only removing the spacer the quad will not even climb them smallest of hills (5-6 feet high) because the sand is so soft. I ordered a 48 tooth sprocket to get the torque up and also the 90 CDI to get some more RPM's I am guessing this will be best. I am not sure if the exhaust & intake will give it much more. Do you or anyone else have any hard data to go by on those mods?

I did take out the spacer and that obviously helped. I also took out 3 rollers, but am not sure I like the results, it definitely goes a little slower without 3 rollers, and I don't think it really helped the take off any, in fact I am almost surely going to put the rollers back in. With the rollers out, I got the feeling I was taking a step backwards.

Can anyone post any part numbers for air filters? I would like to find a K & N or Airaid type filter. I would also like to get an outerwear for it since we go to the dunes a lot. I notice Airraid has some very small filters and they make outerwear for most of their filters.

Burt, CT Racing sells a k&n filter and outerwear for about $50 bucks. I am trying to figure out which filter that is because I could get it cheaper through a friend. I haven't tried calling CT and asking but why would they tell me! I need to measure the carb opening, then I could figure it out from k&n's website. Lowlife put the whole ct kit on his and said it was good. Check out the fmf pipe on denniskirk for the 50. Way cheaper than CT.

I agree if you do all 4 of those mods at once you will notice a huge improvement. The spacer is a must and obviously makes a difference. I took out the spark arrester (and temporarily removed the air filter) and saw a very minor improvement, maybe it just sounded better. Then I did the rollers and that is where I thought there was no gain and possibly even went backwards.

Its been stated here on more than one ocassion that removing 3 rollers is really too much. Your best bet is going to be to pick up a set of 5-6 gram rollers and run all 6 of them. Or, as some suggest run 4 of the stock rollers but in that case you wont be balanced. Stock rollers are 8 grams each I believe.
