a MSR 415-RS Professional Regina chain 110 links..i will just cut it down
Does the chain guard have to be removed permanently?</end quote></div>
You will have to saw off one of the chain guard attachment points. Also the chain guard will not even cover a 43 tooth sprocket. Get the 48. I'm going to upgrade to one soon. The 43 was a huge improvement but it still needs a little lower gearing.

I thought the guard would have to go...
I ordered the 48 last week from Sprocket Specialist..hope it dont take long...
On another note keep..dont let your chains run too loose...i had a bigger kid jump on mine with the chain loose and he threw the chain..i was lucky it didn't brake the case or bend the primary chain drive shaft

Hello all from Las Vegas. I have been reading this thread for a few weeks and love it.
I have a problem with my stock CDI.
I removed the clutch washer with no problems, son didn't want to stop riding.
One week later it had a dead battery, the key was on all week. I didn't think this would drain the battery but the starter would not turn over.
It started fine with the pull start. I then decided to begin some of the mods. I removed the body, removed 3 rollers from the clutch, drilled the exhaust, and modified the stock airbox. I reinstalled the battery box and battery. It still pull started fine. I rode up the street, it seemed to be a little on the lean side as expected. Then it died and would not restart with pull start. I pulled the spark plug and had no spark. At this point I assumed the ignition must need a charged battery to make spark.
I charged the battery over night and this is were my problem begins.
The body was still off, all electrical conections appeared to be correct and tight.
When I turned the key on the CDI box poped and started to smoke. I turned the key off and removed the still hot smoking CDI box.
I planed and still plan to purchase the CT Racing CDI box, but I am afraid of smoking the new CDI box.
Has any one had a problem like this ??
Could this have just been a bad stock CDI box ??
I inspected all wiering and see no shorts or problems.
Any suggestions would be much appriciated.
Does any one have a stock CDI box that they would like to sacrafice before I purchacs a CT Racing CDI box.

Ill help you out Racer X, I sent you a message back.
Linear, read all about my 50 before you waste your money on the CT stuff. I modified my exhaust, 30 minutes of work, bought the cdi off ebay for way less money and also bought the k&n at my local checker for way less than CT. Picked up the jets at the local Honda shop for around $10-15 bucks, cant quite remember the cost, I took out 3 rollers and mine will beat a CT 50 all day long. Save your money.
No offense to the CT owners, I wanted that stuff real bad but just couldn't buy it because money was tight. So I had to improvise and figure it out as cheap as possible. I found out that CT was ripping people off.
Rollers: Free
Exhaust: Free, but wanted CT
K&N: $35 I think from Checker with Outerwear
CDI: $161 off ebay
Beating an expensive CT 50: Priceless! Sorry, had to after typing that stuff!
If mine would have lost in the race then I would have already ordered a pipe for it from FMF,($191).
Im just saying, save your cash for fuel and don't order from CT. I have nothing against them other than that lady who answers the phone doesnt know anything. There pipe sounds great! But mine sounds pretty good and cost nothing, and is faster!
Good luck!
Ed
