Default 92 LT250 Quadrunner High Idleing problem?

I have a 92 quadrunner LT250 that I bought in non running condition and it is missing the airbox and the tube that runs from the box to the carb. I cleaned out the whole carb and put it back on and started it up and it idles really high. Is it normal for it to idle high if there is no airbox hooked up to it? I heard a rumor that CV carbs dont run right if theres no airbox hooked on. does anyone know if this could be a problem or do I have to mess around with the air mix screw?

thats very possible. cv carbs are confusing and convoluted, as well as very vacuum sensitive.

wouldnt you want that boot anyways? isnt there no filtration without it?

yes you need a air box, or some tubing going off into a airfilter, will not run right until then and properly jetted.

Cylmers manual, 20 bucks, good deal, set it to the factory jetting and pick up a airbox on ebay for 20-30 bucks.

any quadracer 250 87-92 airbox will work for sure, probably a 85-86 too,

Default found the problem

Yes its the four stroke utility quad. I found the problem, I was able to see what was going on when I took off the small plastic cover on the side of the carb where your throttle cable attaches to the throttle body spring mechanism. I saw that the mechanism wasnt fully releasing and resting on the idle adjustment screw. The problem was that the throttle cable wasnt seated properly where the plastic part of the cable goes into the removable metal elbow that goes into the carb. I just fiddled with it and it seated properly. Runs good now! Thanks alot guys!
