Default LT230S: The Original Quadsport - Refresh My Memory On A Few Things

Malochala

How does the 230 compare to say a 250EX nowadays? And, if you don't mind my asking, what's a good price for one in good condition?

My dad bought me my first LT230 2 years ago, and all ive added to it since was a DG RCM alloy pipe and header, and a K&N filter. Just recently a friend of mine bought a 300EX and wanted to drag race me. We were geared the same, so i said what the hey. I ended up beating him by about 20 feet in a 1/8 mile drag, so to answer your question, yes the LT would beat a 250EX. And another thing, the 250EX has shaft drive and a Drum rear, while the suzuki has chain and disk.

I love my 85' Quadsport. I just got new yellow fenders, a new blue seat, and new razor tires on douglas rims. I also got a set of blue DG nerf bars. It will climb any hill as everyone said, even with almost bald tires.

Quadsports are indeed the original sport quad. I have owned and sold about a dozen. Keep the swingarm bolt tight and the chain with the correect amount of slack and you chain slap to the magneto case will stop(no more JB please). Change oil regularly.
My Big bore will climb ANYTHING. I love my current quadsports. The motors are simple to work on and parts are available.
Lets hear from all of the Quadsport 230/250 fans out there.
WE ARE STILL ALIVE, YES INDEED!
**To the man that has to drag his bike to start(or pop) you need and new stator as you are not making enough spark to get the motor going. Good reason to change your oil because used oil eats away at the windings of your stator. Try ebay for a replacement**

Our first quad was an 87 LT230E we bought practically new condition in '91. My dad owns it now and at age 68 is still driving the wheels off it on his ranch. We had a 90 250 Qsport with that funny kickstarter that kicks away from the bike. Blue & white, piped it, the wife rode it and what a great machine. Sold it and got a 300EX which was considerably faster but I still miss that ol Sport.
