need help with LT80 - bogging down, only runs with choke on
#1
once it's warmed up and my kid runs it for about 5-10 minutes, it starts bogging down.... eventually won't run at all....
UNLESS you put the choke on.... then it runs fine.... after a few minutes of running with the choke on, you can turn the choke off and it runs fine for a little while longer, then it starts to bog down again, and you have to put the choke back on...
I just had the carb cleaned, and it still does this
what could it possibly be.... I can't take it to a shop, because it works fine unless it is ridden for a while... and no shop will do that
help please!

The LT80 carb has been known to go bad now and then.Little air passages get plugged, and if that is the problem, then the only fix is another carb. I suggest trying another carb.If you don't have access to one PM me and I will send you one of mine to try.
Other than carb,I'm thinking maybe crank seals.
keep us ionformed plz

I'm not sure how the tank is vented on those but you could have a problem there or a bowl vent on the side of the carb. Without these vents, air can't be displaced by the gas thats trying to get into the carb. Just another idea.

I'm not really familiar with that quad and I don't know which carb it has on it but most are the same. You should have a few hoses going to your carb, one is for the gas supply and the other(s) are vents.
1. Turn off the gas valve and remove the gas hose from the carb.
2. Run the engine long enough to run most of the gas out of the carb.
3. Pull the vent hoses off one at a time and blow compressed air into the hoses.
This should remove anything that is blocking them but you should make sure the air comes out the other end of the hoses just to be sure.
4. Blow the air into the vent nipples on the carb as you remove each hose and listen for the air to come out the gas hose nipple.
5. Reassemble, turn on gas and test ride
While the gas hose is off the carb, turn on the gas MOMENTARILY to make sure the fuel flows freely out of the hose. If not you may have a restriction in the petcock
Good luck
