Mounties??? ya mean like the Royal Canadian Mounted Police?? now there's a variety of cool uniforms! the red serge, the Sam Brown, musical ride uni with the puffed out thighs.
I usually refer to the Mounties as the Sheriffs. aka "County Mounties". The pretty much let the minor traffic violations go. CHP takes care of traffic in the county. Accidents, etc. are all handled by them. SO takes care of other LE duties, or as some people say "real crime."

Our Posse guys are referred to as mounties.
PDs and SO both have mounted patrols. SO uses them more for S&R than actual patrol work. PDs use them for visibility. Hard to miss a guy riding a horse, even around a bunch of lifted trucks. Course that also mean HE can see stuff. But the usually use them on patrol duties where they can be seen. Parking lots of the malls and parades.

If your uncle was shot in Uniform then it counts to me. To bad it was idiots at home that did it Make it through the crap in the field just to be hurt on your own soil

No, It's your story and I respect that and your uncle I was just throwing the last part in "just in case" you felt it needed to be pursude that's all
ya lucky bastages, yer not the only one to tell me about how the opposite gender gets a wide-on for uniforms.

ya know, i never quite thought of it that way, but it is rotten that it had to happen on his home soil, when the rest of his country was celebrating him and the other soldiers as heros.

i'd like to do more research to find out what happened in the ensuing days after they lynched the culprits. can you read archived newspaper thru the net?? i know i can review local papers dating back years, but on microfiche, and at the local library. i don't wanna go that far.

When your referring to Stockton? is that Stockton, Ca. and the Purdy case?? Where the ****** opened up on the kids at the school
not sure of the ****** in question, but i remember the case. (and with apologies to Stockton CA if I've got the city wrong). It was some psycho ex-vet who went into a McDonald's Rest. one day and opened fire with an automatic weapon (why does any person need one of these, other than to kill people??) and killed at least 20 people. He re-loaded and nobody did anything. McDonald's apparently left the property vacant (to this day??) as a memorial (and out of respect) for the murdered. it seems to me that was one of the first times i ever remember a guy snapping like that and committing a mass murder in one brief moment. perhaps it was on the edge of when these assault weapons first fell into the hands of civilians. it was at least 25 years ago.

wow, you post-hos, yer sure making it long read to get to the reply spot!
Yea, guess we should cut down on the quotes
Oh so we shouldn't post so much? Or just stop quoting so nobody has any clue what we are talking about?
how's about editing down the quotes, to the part of the post yer responding to, OR, not quoting back the last 45 quotes of your quote to his quote to your quote from his last quote which quoted your quote from his quote.

I usually do try to edit them down to what I'm replying to. But sometimes when I'm in a Post Ho mode, I don't.

Purdy was the M-whatever it was...or was it an AK on the school yard, IIRC. That was in the mid to later 80s. 87 or so I think. I was still in elementary school.

I think, but I'm not sure, that happened in San Diego.
