This is my 05 Ram Cummins. Daily work truck but it does a great job of getting the machines to the mud holes and back home. I'm able to fit two quads on the bed side ways, which is a big help.

I've always wondered why the manufacturers don't put diesels in 1/2 ton or light duty pickups. I know Nissan, Toyota, and others have small diesels that sell all over the world and I'm sure the Big Three have access to small block diesels.

i cant wait to see what emmission systems are put into place on those and how many people actually purchase them and then find out they have an extra tank to fill with DEF.

Toyota makes a great diesel...it wont pass a sniffer inspection in this country.

Ford makes a diesel 4X4 Ranger, but only sells them overseas... The ANA have them, and I wish I could, too

It's a very nice looking truck also
my father inquired about getting one- couldn't get one from ford.

they seem a little larger than the domestic ranger and a little smaller than the f150.

I personally think that the diesel PU will sell beautifully. Burn a lot cleaner than gas engines. I think americas biased point of view that diesel's are filthy loud machines has kept them out of the market here-

when I was shopping for a truck- I would've loved to buy a diesel, but I didn't want a 250 / 2500 series truck- just too much truck for what I need to use it for. Wish I could've found an f150 diesel supercrew!

left in stock form they do burn clean, mine makes not one single cloud, but it is using DEF. Diesel does get better fuel mileage, but the maintainence costs of the newer diesels are high and sometimes hard to justify. The diesel trucks over seas does not have to comply with the same inspections they now do here. My truck gets a full inspection with a snap test and old probe shoved in teh tailpipe. This would no doubt raise the cost of a tacoma or ranger diesel and possibly they might not operate as well as they do overseas without emmissions.

Perfect example of how the emmissions has killed diesel, the old 12v 5.9 cummins, i had a 94 and would see 20mpg all day, a buddy has the new 6.7 cummins and it barely gets 15mpg in stock form. His uses diesel injected into the DPF to burn off the soot.

I as well as many others will be watching to see how Dodge pulls this off and still deliver and relaible diesel that produces economy and good power.

Nissan is going to be coming out with a 1/2 ton Diesel 4 cylinder. With something like 275 hp and 400 lbs of torq and get 30 mph.
