Yep the KE is the little brother to the F7 (which I have the first year 1971). The F5 (1970) Big Horn was the pinochle of the rotary valve single at the time just as the A7 (350) was for the rotary valve twin. The Big horn was pretty ambitious in its debut with all its features and how much torque it made at such low RPMs as well as being the largest Japanese displacement bike at the time. By the time the KE's rolled around they were relegated to playbikes because the dedicated offroad and motocross bikes were in full swing from Japan.

Ok I have been bad about keeping this thread up to date but I am up to episode 12 one episode away from the reveal where you will see the finished bike.

Ive been wanting to post a memory of mine of one of these for a while but forgot and got busy... Very cool how you built this for your dad.

Summer of 1975 I was 15 and going to a Russ Darnell MX school with my 1973 CZ 250. (wouldnt mind one of those again some day) A friend of mines dad took myself and another friend along with his son to the school and dropped us off for the weekend. We were camping in a tent along side the mx track.. His dad stuck around for a while and made sure we set up camp and got all our bikes running... 10 minutes after I got my CZ running it siezed.. wasnt gonna run again. My friends dad let me use his 71 Kawasaki Bighorn 350 for the weekend.. It was very cool of him and it was my first introduction to big bore power... I remember gobs of torque and it handled well despite weighing more than my CZ..good times for sure.
