Had a good time at Liberty Lake ORV park last night. Lots of mud to play in. Climbed all the way to the top ridge & then rode along the ridge as far as we could. Great views & some kinda hairy inclines. More than enough to keep us entertained for 3 or 4 hours.
So is there a separate ORV park on the Idaho side? I've heard a number of people talking about Mica Peak, which is basically where the LL ORV park is. But all kinds of signs & fences to keep riders from going east thru the state line. If we drive out the ORV park access road & turn right, how far is it?

Interesting. So I thought maybe all we'd need is these IEP permits & we can keep riding south on that dirt road past all the signs. But I looked up IEP on the web & called their forestry dept. They said that it's so touchy up there that they don't even advertise it anymore..... they don't even have maps of the area available.
Apparantly there is privately owned land between the ORV park & the IEP land, specifically where that road is. And the property owner doesn't even hesitate to call the cops.
She said the Idaho side of Mica is accessible using these permits & there is a gate off of Weller. But they are not expected to have it open until Memorial Day and there will be a "host" up there when it opens.
So it sounds like it's 2 different riding areas & not really accessible to each other. So whats the Idaho side like?

This is correct, the sheriffs are in there on horse back at times. And rightfully so, there has been lots of "renegades" tearing up private land. I certainly wouldn't like it. Plus it gives the rest of us a bad rep. Lord knows, there are more than enough places to ride. OK I'll stop spoutin off. Riding this weekend sounds great. Still a bit of snow up there. We've already made the north side of the trail 28 from Spades tower. Could be fun. Depends on the snow conditions though. Perhaps something a little lower in altitude would be better. Any ideas?

Hey all.. I just called Inland Empire Paper..
You can buy permits to ride on their land.
The cost is $30.00 for a person
$45.00 for a family
Polaris riders are free. Bombadiers cost $75.00
You can buy them at Whites outdoor. Its by the ballpark. On Ferry Road? I believe it is the road you turn west on the same one Numerica CU sits on..

A few other things....
1) What does everyone think of a ride on Easter? Like after everyone is out of church or whatever? Sometime before noon? I have an easy day at work that day. Also that should give Jay enough time to pray that his Bomb doesn’t get stuck or for that matter starts Just kidding Jay
2) Anyone from Spokane going to the North Idaho ATV meeting Tuesday night? Ironhorse at 7pm?
3) Who all is going to the Smelterville ride on April 29? I mentioned it to my friend and he is pretty much game.. I was reading on the web page you have to pre reg for the run. Any way we can reg on the day of the run? Rather than making another trip to Smelterville?
4) Anyone here a welder/fabricator?
I have a 100 amp MIG and access to a 220v stick welder. I was going to try to fab a set of loading ramps out of square tube steel for the frame and solid tube for the rungs. I have a set of ramps from Harbor freight I don’t like very well. 1000 lb limit. Wanted something more stout. They have a set of tri folds (1500 lb limit) but they are too narrow for my tastes. I think they are like 43 inches wide and my machine is 48" wide.
Jay where did you get your set from?
What thickness would you all do? Would 3/16 thick support the weight? I was thinking each ramp would be 15.5 to 16" wide and 6 ft long. Add the hinges in and it would be a perfect 48".
I checked at a local bike shop and they want almost $200 for a set of alum ones. Id do alum but I can’t weld alum.
5) What’s everyone thought about getting a phone number list going? If someone wants to go for a ride or in case of an emergency. Like someone gets stuck or brakes down and needs a tow or help? So they are not left out there. I know alot of people use the buddy system but if some freak chance that fails...
For that fact what about an email list or online messenger list? It may be neat for throwing together a ride, or if you see someone online to set up a ride.
I don’t know it was just a thought... I don’t know if it has been brought up before. It was just a idea.

4) Nope, but I have a number of things on my list to make & I own a Harbor Freight 70 am arc welder that I've never learned how to use. At some point I need to make that happen.
5) Good idea. I own a Yahoogroup for SkySki & AirChair riders.... over 1000 members worldwide. We put a database on the group & anyone can throw their name & number in there for a list of people to call when your in town to ski or whatever. It works great & we get together with people all over the country all the time. Camping trips, day trips, weekends, whatever. The one common thing among everyone is the skiing...... or in this case, the quad riding.
I live within about 2 miles of the LL ORV park. If anyone is going there & needs a partner or needs help out there, get in touch. bill(at)airjunky(dot)com.

I'm planning on going out to the 7 mile ORV park around noon on Friday unless the weather turns really ugly. A friend at work has a new Suzuki King Quad and wants to try it out in a controlled environment before he goes too far from home.
Can't make the run on the 23rd -it's my anniversary. I've introduced the idea of her coming along, but I doubt that she'll be out of bed before you guys leave the parking lot, and the Happy Hermit isn't her idea of a special anniversary dinner!
I am planning on making the Smelterville run, especially want to see Wiz being chased by a cooler for a change!
