I never heard a bigger bunch of babies in my life!!!!
"too fast"
"too heavy"
"bad rap"
"insurance issues"
I think the real issue is that you guys (or should I say girls) are too afraid it.

What you are referring to is the same thing that I posted two years ago after coming back from a Yamaha Watercraft dealer meeting in late 2001.
The "quad" is referred to within Yamaha as the A1
It is loosely based from the R1 engine in design to keep weight down, but the bottom end uses a dual range transmission with ultra low gearing...but still uses the manual clutch.
The "quad" is neither based on a similar design [Grizzly]...or a Ryno.
It is best described as an all new vehicle that is aimed at industrial use only.
No, I am not smoking crack. This has been in Yamaha's R&D department well before the snowmobile and watercraft versions of this engine were released. Whether or not it has, or ever will, go beyond R&D is mere speculation.

420ex the main reason that the buell quad that dirt wheels tested handled so bad was because it was in what appeared to be a stock polaris espress 300 frame if my memory serves me correctly. I'm sure with all the weight from a street bike motor it could not handle all that great in any frame though.

I can't even imagine how it'd feel w/ a 1000cc motor in it. It's pointless. There'd almost never be an instance where you would be using more than half the potential of the engine.
