Default WHATS THE BEST CARB. N SIZE FOR MY 686??

hEY whats up, i was wondering, i have a 686 raptor and for the past weeks been interested in getting a carb. My neighbor works in fixing up carbs for moddified cars, i noticed he had like 30 carbs and so i asked him, he said he gets paid on the down low to fix carbs for suped up engines in cars. so we talked n i told him i have a quad with a 33mm keihn duel carb. he said he could make it into a 36mm. for less than 100 bucks cause hes my neighber. But was wondering first of all whats the best carb for my bike. n size too. i do alot of drag racing. help??

Bored stockers do a very good job on modded bikes, especially in the top end department. They do not like jumps or rough terrain because they will constantly pop out of the intake boots.

The 39mm FCR is the only way to go! That way if you decide to go bigger you will not have to worry about getting larger carbs.

Stock carbs bored out to a larger diameter. That is what you described, having your buddy bore your carbs out to a 36.

I assume you were talking about the stock raptor carbs, since that is the type of quad you were talking about. And they are dual Mikuni BSR 33mm carbs, not keihns. Unless you have purchased a set of aftermarket 33 keihn carbs.

The 35mm keihn FCR's are very popular for 686 builds, but if you are contemplating a bigger build in the future, listen to ernie and get the 39's.

35's are 800-900. I'm not sure about the 39's.

All I can tell you is that when my Raptor was on 39mm fcr's it screamed and I was using a stage two Hot Cam. I think my jetting back then was 158, 160mj on 100 octane fuel. It was a 12.5:1 JE piston.
