You should be able to get parts for it. If it needs to be re-wound or if it needs other electrical parts, take it to an electrical shop. I'm not sure about yours, but I have one in the jet ski with bearings in the end cap where the shaft comes out and I can buy that by itself. But yes, you can get parts for it and it'll prolly be cheaper than buying a new one.

Yes indeed they can be rebuilt. My suggestion would be to take it to a starter/alternator shop ... that's who fixed the one on my Warrior, which is the same starter. He had to rebuild the commutator because it was destroyed by arcing ... oil leaked in past the seal and ruined it ... works like a charm now though for less than 1/4 the cost of a new starter. If you can find a good buy on a new one, then by all means .. but those suckers are over $400 up here ....

Update, I purchased a complete rebuild kit for my starter from "Hyper Parts, LLC." in Alabama over the internet to rebuild my starter. It cost me $50.30 including shipping and it works great. Every piece is included that you would need to rebuild yours. The only parts not included is the case, each end cap and the main armeture with the windings. Every other piece is in there even all the little o-rings. $50 is a lot better than $120 for a cheap rebuild. Although it did nt come with instructions, if you have any mechanical ability you should be able to do it.
I highly reccomend the company I bought from. THat is the reason for this post. Alot of times you here of bad companies but not to often the good ones. Sorry for the long post, but I just like dealing with good companies.
