try telling that to the F1 and pro drag NHRA guys that their 2 wheel counter parts will always exceed them...

This thread is hilarious. I think its pretty obvious that any ATVer that thinks ATVs can beat bikes at anything that requires speed is rather naive.

I must admit that I did not consider drag racing in my statement, probably because I have never really thought drag racing proves anything, ... except who spent the most money. Drag racing is for girly men, so it is with hesitation that I admit that I have done drag racing, or rather, hillshooting at Sand Mountain UT on many occaisions. Explain this for me ... we have a stock engine Banshee 350, and a stock engine KTM 300 XC dirt bike. They are both similar engine size two strokes, and when we "drag race" them up the 700 foot tall Sand Mountain the bike sbsolutely runs away and hides from the quad. And that is despite the quad having paddle tires and the bike having the stock knobbie rear tire. Seriously, the bike is two hundred feet ahead of the quad by the time they get to the top of the hill. Must be that contact patch thing coming into play again, right?
Also, I would like to hear your reasoning for why quads have MORE advanced frame technology than bikes. Please explain.

LOL, I like how it has to be under "certain conditions". What ever happened to your statements that ATV's are faster and better than bikes about anywhere? Signs of failure again?
I will GIVE you my ATV and Bike if you can outrun me and complete the same tasks I do on a track OR wooded trails. Dunes I will give to you, I have no experience with that so I can't argue it.

I used to be a 2 wheel guy, but my skills were such that I couldn't continue to do that without being really sore and tired for the next few days. Dirtbikes can be hard work. Quads are easier to ride, and I can go places on my sport quad I couldn't/wouldn't go on a bike. Now, if you want to talk rider skill making the difference, I think cctman may have a point, but that has nothing to do with technology and capability, which is what he's trying to argue.
On sand, sorry cctman, now your points are invalid. If you have a skilled rider on a descent bike, it will kill quads in every kind of ride. Flat drags, hill drags, and duning. About the only time 2 wheeler's have problems is if they are going too slow in the really soft sand. Other than that, there is no doubt they can out dune a quad. You tried to use surface contact as a point in a drag, which when you first look at it sounds good, but in reality, especially in the sand, it's not. It's only valid for about the first 2 feet or so, then you have traction, same as a quad.
For my personal fun and enjoyment, I like the quads. If I was racing for money, talking strictly stock dirtbike vs stock quad. I'm on a bike.

Honda MX bikes has had five, yes FIVE, generations of aluminum frames in the last 10 years. I can't think of a quad with a second generation frame. Unless you want to say the Raptor 660 and 700R is the same bike.
