Default '06 Wolverine 450 4x4 Problem Solved- Please read!

Hey, I just wanted to let you guys know that I figured out the problem with the top end bogging terribly from 3/4 throttle on!

I had a particle of something small and black clogging my main jet. I cleaned the fuel bowl out and the rest of the carb as well. It's all good now!

I had originally thought that it might have been the K&N filter letting a piece of dirt in but after disassembling the carb it is clear that even if it does let in some dirt it isn't going to get into the main jet from the bottom and the needle jet that is open on the inlet bore side won't allow any down draft into it.

I also re-routed the vent line and I am installing a fuel filter on it and on the fuel feed line so I don't get any more crap in there. Apparantly the vent line can suck some dirt into the bowl so the filter will eliminate that problem.

I had been having this occur intermittently for months and I finally figured it out. The Wolvy plain screams now!

I know some others have had this same problem so check this first!

I am one happy camper! LOL

another happy wolverine owner. thats good that you finally solved that... i havent gotten around to rerouting my line, but i havent gotten anything sucked up and i go through some deep mud. what i do after every mud pit is stop and let the throttle wide open for a second to make sure its not sputtering. once in a while it spits a little and all you have to do is turn the gas off, run the fuel out of the line and open up the screw on the carb drain and sometimes some dirty water comes out.

It's a silver phillips head screw on the lower left hand side of the fuel bowl. It lets the little hose on the bottom pass the fuel thru so you can drain the bowl.

yep... make sure you turn the gas line off and run it dry, other wise you will get lots of fuel coming down the line.you dont realy have to run it dry but that way you will know which stuff is water and wont make it look like more mud than it was.

I had the same prob. with my 06 Kodiak. I found a little piece of what looked like plastic in the main jet. If any one else has a problem like this, look at the main jet first..

Thanks for the post. I was going crazy for a while until I figured it out.

Mine looked like plastic also! I am beginning to think that it was a particle of the gas tank from when it was new.
