IM ABOUT 175 POUNDS. WHAT A GOOD SHOCK SETTING ON MY 2000 GRIZZLY.. I BEAT FEET THROUGH THE TRAILS AND TAKE SOME JUMPS EVERY NOW AND THEN.. THE SHOCK IS SET THE WAY THE DEALER GAVE IT TO ME, WICH I THINK IS PRETTY SOFT... ANY SUGGESTIONS???

I can't tell you about your shock settings but I know if you keep jumping a shaft driven machine that you are asking for trouble. You are really over working the spline coupling for the rear shaft. Ask any good dealer tech.

MEOS,

I have a 00 Grizzly, and I weigh 200 lbs. My rear shock is set on the next to softest. I have also jumped some (of course jumping for me and this machine is probably a foot of air). It has never bottomed out. I have noticed some wheelhopping when climbing hills with some wheelspin. I plan to test a firmer setting, thought it might decrease the hopping. I probably don't have as much experience as therock, but the problems with jumping a shaft-driven ATV is a new one to me.

The Problem with jumping a shaft driven machine is that while in the air the shaft is spinning when you hit the ground the shaft stops spinning around as fast causing strain eventually this will break the shaft I dont think it will hurt anything if your just jumping a foot or two off of the ground the. There is also stress on chains when jumped but not nearly as much and chains are a lot cheaper than those drive shafts.

Yes WarriorPimp? I was wondering you mentioned that you had Holeshots and a DP pipe??? I was just wondering what your settings are at? Top or low end?? And what are your top speeds? How do you like it? I have a '00 Warrior and want to put Holeshot XCT's and a pipe also........Just wanting a little input Thanks for your time! =- )

Trust me,when jumping a shaft driven, or 4x4 atv, one of the last worries you have is the splines on the drive shafts The biggest problem I have is cracking the frame. Plus they usually have dampning springs built into the clutch basket to eliminate and drive line shock such as that...

Sorry missed the question
Usually the rule of thumb on shock damning settings is go as soft on the preload as you can with out bottoming out...
Hope this helps...
