Lets see a pic of your bike please. My bike might be near 400lbs. Id have to eyeball your bike to see what you have going on.

I dont run a fan. Maybe thats all the weight difference we have. Ill go weigh her this week. I am working on some light stuff to add. Also gonna do some more motor work. Im never done adding stuff. After every outing I kick it up a knotch like Emerald.

I'm a pretty transparent guy. I will post my stock wet weight and everything I have done to the chassis. I have a few things left to go. Be back in a second

Stock Wet weight 490 lbs

Subframe -12lbs
Steering Stem -6lbs
Axle & 520 -24lbs
Swingarm -5 lbs
A-arms -7lbs
Fox Floats -18lbs
Buff tires -11lbs
Pipe -4lbs
MSD +1lb
Noss +6lbs (guess)

That nets 410 lbs wet as a hill shooter by my estimation. All I have to do is strut the rear to drop to about 397 for groomed track.

That is the best I can do to maintain full function for dunability. I will still have lights for night rides, full fenders and heel guards so I look pretty much stock.

That is it........as far as chassis goes

Yeah right! The '00 are about 25 lbs heavier than the '05 Viper right out of the box. Check my last post

Default "Let's take this OUTSIDE"!!!

I prefer actual weights. My first DS was a '00. It was 512 lbs wet on my scale system. My '05 weighed in at 490 on the same scale. My '05 swingarm is about 11 lbs lighter than the '00. My '05 shocks are about 3 lbs lighter and the rest of the '05 weight savings is found in hubs and A-arms.

You were right though, the '05 isn't 25 lbs lighter. I only found it to be 22 lbs lighter after I dug my notes out. My bad I am thinking that Bombardier was a little optimistic about their actual weight in '00

The interesting thing is my '05 was exactly 472 lbs dry on my scales. My '00 was 493. My '05 had 1 extra pound wet as compared to dry over the '00. I can't explain that..............

Now that we ran off on this rabbit trail, did you read my list of chassis mods I have been working on? I was hoping you might be as forthcoming as I have been with the weight you intend to run

I still see it as 2000ds =460lbs.
2005ds =470lbs.

Maybe scales are like dynos, different weight different day. I just dont see how? You really went direclty to the scales and weighed both bikes DRY weight? Dang man, no offense but are you sure?

You can see in my pics the weight ive lost. Probly around 375-385 I dont know to tell ya the truth. You can see in my pics what I have nothings hidden, My shaws arent that light their cruizers. Im getting a new steering stem, I still have stock stem. Im getting a alum gas tank, And oil tank. Other things as well. I hope to get it down to 370

I also am leaning towards a so called dangerous old school wet nos system. I think like it.
You should be able to put a MOPPIN on my bike being only 25 lbs heavier and 35 more hp and better cams.
My bike only got around 55 hp, with a 25 shot that only puts me at a measly 80 hp. Now im gonna have to outride you to make up for that extra 25 hp you will have..
SOUNDS like fun!!!!!

You should know by now that I don't lie......and I know you weren't implying that I would. I just might have made a mistake...........it is possible

Did you notice on your google info how the '05 viper and '05 X were actual dry weights and the '00 was estimated?

I believe that is where the difference is. You should see the difference in the two swingarms. The '05 is light alloy, the '00 is steel and 1 1/4" longer. The '00 shocks are much beefier and the hubs (all of them) are much lighter on the '05. The '05 is 2" narrower and 1 1/4" shorter and did you ever notice the solid rectangular chunks of steel where the A-arms meet the spindles on the '00? Those went away in '01 or '02 for a lighter set of A-arms. The '05 A-arms are lighter yet since they are each about an inch shorter

The question I would ask anyone out there who thinks i don't know what I am talking about would be, after all of the lightened parts I have mentioned that went into the '05, where did BRP gain all that weight back on the '05 assuming the estimated 460 lbs for the '00 was accurate?

Btw, I won't have anywhere near 105 hp. I was hoping but I can't seem to get the old 105.5 bore anywhere near those numbers.
