The guy at Alba is definately on crack!!! If you leave them loose, they will back out and make a mess of your clutch and case
The springs may be incorrect and when you tighten them down, all the coils contact eachother (coil bind) and will not collapsed anymore.
Measure the hight of the spring in the fully collapsed condition and compare with the stockers. You can put them in a vice to do this.
Then measure the shoulder portion of the clutch- spring bolt. the shoulder should be at least 1/4" longer then the collapsed length of the spring. I've had wrong parts in packages before
