Sportsman 800 accessories?
A winch is a MUST! These things are impossible to get un-stuck if you ride alone and occasionally feel invincible.
It will save you a ton of aggravation if you stick with the Pure Polaris accessories. I should have.
I bought a Warn 3.0, non-polaris, because it was about $150 cheaper. But, it didn't come with the `05 Sportsman mount plate, and the positive/negative wires that come pre-routed have a plastic moulding on the winch end, which I had to cut off. (wouldn't fit on the non-polaris contactor). The mount plate took forever to come in. The online company I bought the winch from called me after a week and said they just got the mount plates for the `05 Sportsmans. So I go on their web site, and everything they had was not compatable with the 3.0!! After waiting 2 more weeks, I finally get an e-mail with a link to the new mount. 10 days after all this B/S, I'm finally able to mount my winch. The wires that came with the winch were WAY too long (the yellow and blue ones were, so I used the black & red wires instead due to the machine being pre-wired). Even after having to buy the winch mount and pay for shipping, I still saved around $80. It took much longer than it should have to install and got me very pissed off due to the 3 week wait for the mount. I should have just paid the friggin' $150 and been done with it.
I also bought heated grips, front & rear cargo boxes, and a stainless front brush guard. The grips I am thinking about sending back because they are real cheesy w/ a big gaudy metal switch that looks like sh*t, and they are actual grips, instead of a grid that goes under the stockers (which I was expecting). Plus, I paid WAY too much for them. (Not real happy w/ the company I bought all this stuff from) The brush guard came in without ANY hardware to mount it. Then, the cargo boxes were a pain in the *** to mount-- with the Pure Polaris boxes, they mount with expandable rubber plugs-- easy on, easy off in seconds. I had to hold 2 u-bolts at a time up underneath to mark for drilling, then fuss with the alignment of the box, left to right.
Wish I bought the Polaris ones!!
