Default 06 700efi /800 clutch?

Hello, I am new to the forum, though I have been visiting it for some time. Just purchased a new SP700 EFI last Friday. Previously owned a "00" SP500 which has been passed on to my son. After reviewing many threads/posts on the forum I decided on the SP700 EFI. Haven't got to try it out much yet due to work constaints but I think I will really like it. (Does anyone out there really have too much time to ride?) My question is whether the "06" SP700 EFI has the same primary clutch as the SP800? Either someone told me this or I read it on the forum and have been unable to confirm it. Thanks so much for your posts, comments, and opinions which make this a great forum.

IF they have the same clutch why are so many people wanting to change their clutch over to the one that is on the 800?

They do not have the same clutch because my buddy has an 800 and we read in the actual tech manual and was confirmed by the service manager at our local polaris dealership that the clutches are different in that the 800 clutch has a bigger spring in it so it will engage the belt at lower rpms (at around 1400) where as the 700 clutch doesn't engage until about 1800 rpms. However I personally installed an aftermarket clutch kit on my 700 and it will now beat my buddies 800 off of the line now.

The 06 700's primary clutch is the same as the 800's. The 05 700's have a different primary clutch its the same primary clutch as the older 700's.

Thanks Spyder6; I thought this was the case. The"06" does but it is the first year it has been that way.
