Default GUESS WHAT THE MAIL MAn DROPED OFF TODAY!

Just got my white bros E-series race system. Looks like a very nice system from what I can see. They recomend a 165 main with the air box lid off. Problem is, i dont want to air box lid off. So what would you guys run, like a 160??? I have that white bros power filter too if that makes any difference. Thanx

The filter is a uni filter, I got the same one when I got my pipe, also try a 160 jet and drill some 1" holes in the lid, buy some hole filters. A parts guy will know what you are talking about when you go in there. Hope that helps

If you're running the stock needle (I wouldn't recommend that) then I'd go with a 160 or 165 main. The too fat main will make up for the lack of needle adjustment to a degree. Your hit will be higher in the powerband, but it should still work ok.

If you're running a DJ or Alba needle (well worth the $15 from Alba) then go #4 from the top, 25 pilot 3 turns out, and a 145 main. Keep the lid and don't drill holes in the lid. But, DO remove the snorkel baffle. That thing should be the first to go on any Z. If you plan on leaving that on as well, just send the pipe back.

These settings will get you close.. you can play with the main after that to see if it will take more... mine didn't. 150 was too rich in the main with this setup. Once I opened up my airbox, though, I went to a 155 main.

Most of all, learn how a carb works, what lean and rich feel like, etc. And don't confuse the rev limiter for too rich.

By removing the snorkle dont even think of going near water it will get right in Uni air box vents which is a filtered vent drilled into the lid will work much safer and spend the money for a better intake. Pro design with a foam element will do a much better job of keeping debris from entering the intake side of carb. The stock air filter setup (mounting) allows dirt to enter where the filter seats to the box It sucks. When a filter gets dirty the engine is going to suck air at the weakest point.

I'm going to use the stock needle for now and switch it out later. I'm leaving the snorkle and air box lid on, its just to muddy and wet where i ride. So a 158-160 should work right???

cant hurt to try it.
I have a ct pipe and I used a 155 main jet. With the airbox lid on it wouldn't rev up it just spuddered, with the lid off it runs great.

If you're leaving the stock needle, go with a 145 main, and you can still safely remove the snorkle baffle. Not the entire snorkle.. just that cap that covers the open end of it near the gas tank. If you're not going to do that, a pipe will do you no good. The stock pipe isn't that bad at all.

Hey bvstone, where is the snorkel baffle? Also if I ran through water is it going to hurt anything with the baffle gone? Thanks
