I had a set of steel rims on the back of mine. I noticed a huge difference just going to the aluminum rims, with the same tires.

I may have to jet up now that my spark is better on the low end. I don't know. I wont know until I get the thing out of the garage and ride it around. I'm confident I wont have those hard starting problems anymore.
One thing I can tell ya now is that I have to use the choke just to keep it running. Before I almost never used the choke. Only if it was really cold out. I never would have guessed....

I definitely recommend upgrading the coil in the magneto for $40. I have a fat blue spark now just pulling the kicker with my hand! Before, we were kicking the **** out of it and asking each other if we seen anything.

I found the front polished aluminum ITP .190 rims on Dennis kirk. I just took the rear wheels off and found out I have the steel ITP rims (that were installed backwards). I think they're +1 (all of them are.. right?).

So where do I find the rear ITP .190 rims, and would anyone be interested in the steel itp rims if I did find them.</end quote></div>

Cheapest I found was rockymountainatv.com, that was well over a year ago, though!</end quote></div>

I got mine from them about a month ago, but mine are Douglas .160. They had one in stock and had to order the other.

My steel rims that I took off were centered. No offset. The ones I put on are 6+3 (however they say it)... it gives me 3 inches wider total in the back.

I can't say enough about how light they are though. The aluminum rims and tires barely weigh as much as just the steel rims alone.

Ok first off if you have the original spindles on the front then your hub pattern is 4/166 not 4/144. If you go to www.rockymountainatv.com and setup your default machine on the website you can research what wheel combos you can get, also I found they had the best price since when I bought mine about 3 months ago I was looking for all new tires and rims all the way around.

I also have a 1986 QS and the rims I ordered, thru the above mentioned website with tires already mounted were Front rims Douglas Red Label .190 10X5 (3+2 offset).

My rear rims/tires were a different story because I didn't like the selection available with the 4/130 rear hub I changed my rear hubs, used a 1988 Yamaha Blaster rear hubs since it has the same small 24 spline count as does our Zuk's.
so my rear rims/and tires have an 8" diameter since that is what is available for my hub size instead of the 9" diameter the oem QS has.

So front:
Front rims Douglas Red Label .190 10X5 (3+2 offset)
Front tires Maxxis RAZR 21X10-7

Rear:
Rear rims Douglas Red Label .190 8x8 (3+5 offset)
Rear tires Maxxis RAZR 20x11-8

If I remember right the whole package w/ shipping cost $386.

oh yeah, I can never keep those goofy numbers straight. 4/166 front and 4/130 back. Once I buy it, I usually flush my brain like a toilet.

I definitely think 20's are the way to go in the back. I was worried for a while that 20 wouldn't be tall enough to miss all the rocks on the trail that I ride. Now that I have them mounted, I don't think there will be a problem. Actually, the 20's look bigger than what I was expecting.

Yeah I really like the 20's but I still want to get the rear sprocket and rear brake rotor skid protectors for those ooopsie moments on the trails.
