Never thought about that. That might turn out to be a pretty good idea. I might end up doing both.

hey guys

So the other day, I was drag racing my buddy down the road (bad idea and boy did i learn my lesson) aand anyways, he took off first and then we pretty much kept the same distance from each other (I think i was slowely catching up - he has a 300ex) and then i guess he thought we were done, but i didn't and he pulled in front of me and slowed down and he didn't relize i was so close behind him and i turn off a bit but still hit him and i dont remember if i jerked the handlebars or if i hit thefront brake but either way i ended up going over the handle bars with the bike rolling behind me. I was goingi n 5th gear pinned, mind you. The first thing i thought when i hit the road was "oh crap, there is a 300 pound machine flipping behind me and it is going to land on me... and it did. My buddy saw the whole thing and he said it rolled a good number of times until landing on me. I laid there for a while yelling "what the ****, why the **** would you ****ing do that??!!?! pulling out in front of me like that you ****" When i did get up and looked at my 230, the axle is bent to about a 70 degree angle and it is leakign gas bad. I haven't had the chance to look at it yet because i left it at my friends house but i am going to pick it up tonight. Im lucky i didn't brake anything but i really am sore and i may have messed up my knee. Thank god for helmets, right? The other kid said he thought i died when he watched me take that spill. Anyways hopefully the gas leak can be fixed with minimal expenses but i need a new axle and im thinking a durablue. Any suggestions?

be careful out there.

Yeah, you have to watch other riders ALL THE TIME! They'll come after you like flies to a carcass... a lot like driving a car. You always have to have an "out" if a driver does this or that. Good to have a helmet if you're gonna engage in risky business like drag racing... especially when the other guy doesn't know to stay in his own lane. I have lots of trails cut into the woods behind the house and they all criss cross and if I have friends over riding too I never know when someone will come barreling right at me. So, I'm kinda used to feeling in a war zone. Luckily, we've only had one accident. I seen my bud heading right for me on the same trail so I ducked off in the woods. Well, he didn't see me because of the sun and by the time he did he freaked out and came in the woods after me sideways. I was fully stopped by then so not much I could do but watch it happen. We just hit tires and I think his rim got bent a little. I told him next time go to the right,,, NOT the left.

..PG ./.what's the scoop on the '01 400? Have a bud looking for tips instead of trading in.. Pointed him to the Honda section, but said he may need to ask over here!

What kind of tips? My 04 was stock except works shocks, dial a jet and slip on FMF.
Thing was bullet proof! I only sold it to pay for my Alaska fishing trip. 2 days later a friend that I bailed out on a pool he had screwed up (big time) Offered his 01 as payment, How could I refuse? The 230 is the only quad I have every modified the engine, I have no plans to modify the ex, except suspension and dial a jet, already has the FMF..

What kinda tips was he wanting? I think the same things that work on 230s should work on 400s. That link I posted a couple days ago has lots of tips... amazing that much info is free!
