Default 85 to 88 Suzuki LT230S Quadsport help.

The last time I had one of these "dangerous" discussions, one of the last things said was this:

It appears the best stats we have are http://www.atvsafety.gov/stats.html and http://www.car-accidents.com/p...stats/2000_killed.html

So, in 2000 there was an estimated 4,200,000 quads and an estimated 502 deaths. That's .01195% Right????
In 2000 there was,,, what,,, 42,000 or so people killed in autos??? And there is somewhere around 215,000,000 autos registered. So, that's about .01954%

.01954 is about 64% higher than .01195. So, I guess that means you're 64% more likely to die in your auto than on your quad. Therefore, you should be more likely to wear a helmet in your car than on your quad if your goal is to avoid death.

In my age group (35-44), the #1 cause of death is unintentional injuries according to the CDC. Of that group, poisoning is #1 at 39.8%. 38.4% died in autos for the #2 spot. "Other land transport" would be in the 6th spot for 1.6% and only half of those were atvs.

http://webappa.cdc.gov/cgi-bin/broke...deathtle=Death

According to those stats, I'm more likely to die from tripping n falling than from riding my atv, lol.

I know I'm manipulating stats to downplay the risks of riding atvs.... Riders should know without really having to be told that its dangerous..... And it doesn't take a genious to know that riding a machine that weighs 2 or 3 times more than you and going 30,40,50+ mph can fork you up if you lose control! Most of the risk comes with attitude anyway. I could put grandma on a quadzilla and she'll putt around the yard and the evening will be quite uneventful. But put PG on the same zilla an you'll hear sirens within mintues.

The whole helmet law and 3-wheeler thing is just the government's way of pacifying a bunch of crying, whining, do-gooder sissies that seem to have a naggin compulsion to run everyone else's lives. I mean.... where on that list of rules did it say you had to have good brakes and tires???? I guess its ok if some goofball is cruising around with shotty brakes and slams into me so long as he has a helmet, 4 wheels, and isn't louder than a vaccum cleaner. See??? This is what I'm on about.... Everybody is more preoccupied with restricting freedoms rather than protecting the public.

Sorry BigMc if you think I'm some kind of jerk or something. I didn't mean to come across like that. I just get all stirred up when I see our freedoms being flushed down the toilet. That reminds me....

And the sign said anybody caught trespassing would be shot on sight
So I jumped on the fence and yelled at the house, Hey! what gives you the right
To put up a fence to keep me out or to keep mother nature in
If God was here, he'd tell you to your face, man you're some kinda sinner.

Sign Sign everywhere a sign
Blocking out the scenery breaking my mind
Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign.
