I didn't know the dealer could fix shocks. I thought they were "disposable", lol. Or you needed really special equipment.

I always figured I would make my own spacers if I ever needed them. Just get a length of tube the right hole size and cut 4 of them the same length. Then put longer bolts in the hub and mount the rim. Then weld in flat steel pieces to hold all the pieces of tube together. Viola, a wheel spacer. Sounds good, never done it though.

Yup, the 230 is an addicting quad. And I spend enough time n money on it that I probably should be admitted to rehab and get methadone treatments.

The 250 S shocks are rebuildable. I believe that is what he has.

From what I seen, they're just like any other stock shock except they have a hose coming out the side. How do you get them apart to put new seals in? They look pressed n welded shut. I guess you could cut where the weld is and replace the seals n then weld it back up. But I don't know.... I feel lucky just to get the spring off to paint it without killing myself.

My bud that used to race told me the dealer can put the gas back in them. I asked where he got the gas n he didn't know. All he knew was he got his filled whenever he need it.

When I was setting up my front end the other day, I was using a 250 front shock with no spring. When I was done for the night, I set the shock down on the floor and the next day there was a puddle of oil under it. I guess that's one way to tell, lol.

All my hydraulic jacks leak too. Get the least little dirt on those things and they're shot! Same thing with shocks.... They're just hydraulics. Easy to fill jacks though. They have a little rubber plug on the side you put oil in. No clue how you get more oil in a shock. Hmmm... I might chop one up n see what makes it work. I would get them! Actually, that's the same thing I did. I found a guy on ebay who sent me 2 sets for $40. One set was good, the other leaked the oil on my floor.

I know those shocks work 10x better than the 230 ones because the 250 rides so nice.... like a cloud... whereas the 230 is like a log wagon. There may be better shocks out there, but at least I know the 250 ones are much better than what I had. And they don't cost $500 either.

If you can get the 250 a-arms too (from the same guy???) they will fit in the frame with a little modding you can probably do yourself. The shock top mount on the 250 is the same as the 230. You might need the spindles though. I can't be sure if the 250 ball joints fit in the 230 spindles. Everything else will work though. The 250 arms are a couple inches longer than the 230 ones. And the a-arm bearings are longer, so you'll have to either cut some off or spread the frame mounts somehow. I'm just saying that's an option. Not trying to talk you into or out of anything.

Btw, the bottom mount on the 250 shock is too wide to fit in the 230 a-arm. Just a bit of trivia....

Yup, the 250 arms are 2 inches longer than the 230 ones. I just went out n measured. It also looks like the 230 spindles will work on the 250. So, all you'd need is the arms and the shocks.

Much better bearings if someone could figure out to get it to work. Too bad they only made those 2 years. Not many out there like the 230.

The 250 a-arms would not bolt up though would they?

But, I'll still make you some this winter if you'd rather wait. Maybe I'll find a way to improve them after I've had a chance to ride on them for a while. The last set I rode on was the +3's I made last year. I'm sure the shocks are too stiff or soft or something and I'll need to move some mounts n that kinda thing.

The bearings are longer on the 250 arms and won't fit in the 230 frame. Other than that, the frame mounts are in the same place.

The white one in the pic is the 250. The black one is the 230. Both are on a trailer in my yard right now, lol.
