i think there is a inspection plug on the top left of the motor that you can pull to see the timing mark. then pull the spark plug, stick a skinny screw driver in the hole to feel when the piston is at the very top. the mark inside the inspection plug should be parallel to the top of the cylinder head(left and right). if its not then you need to adjust the timing.

Ok, we re-adjusted the timing. It was like 2 teeth off I think. It was TDC and those 2 marks paralell with the top of the piston, right?

We could get it running when we pull it behind the truck and it was running decent for a while, but even the smallest change in the carb and it would stop. Then it wouldn't start up again unless we pulled it.

Any ideas? The carb seems so clean!

On a side note, I got my new steering stem on. Super easy to put on! Its a little longer though, which is weird. Thats nice though since it used to rub my plastics at full turn.

Does it have a aftermarket filter and exhuast?
Did he rebuild the carb with stock jet sizes?

I'm not sure if he rebuilt it with the stock jets or not. We re-re checked the timing, and moved it like one more tooth to just about perfection I would think, tried swapping my carb and coil on it and everything. We can pull it with the truck and will start eventually. It will idle and stuff pretty nicely. But if it dies and you don't kick it right away, it WILL NOT start back up without more towing.

Its real strange seeming. Everything on it is in amazing shape.

I've got some video of it running that I'll post up in a bit. Maybe that will help with the diagnosis.

pull the valve inspection caps and check to see if the retainer nuts haven't rattled loose.
make sure the air mix screw on the carb is about 2 turns out.

We had the whole valve cover off and everything is super nice up there. We didn't get a chance to re-seal it though, could it be that we were out of timing, we corrected it, but now we have a vacuum leak since we didn't re-seal the valve cover?

Would it be two turns on the mixture screw even with the pipe?

Where do you keep the throttle adjust screw?

Videos are uploading.

What should the jet sizes be, roughly, for drilled out air box lid, and DG RC (not RCM) exhaust? I'll really dig into the carb tomorrow. My cousin did most of the carb work so I'll dig in there and see what I can find out.
