Randy, did you swap out the cam on you 230 for one from a 250? I'm really considering it, but want to hear from someone who actually did it and if it was noticeable. $90 is a lot to drop on something that may only make a lsight difference....

On another note, anyone got a spare head laying around they'd part with cheap? I'd like to try some porting combos on one without taking mine apart and yielding it un-rideable for a while.

I tried the 250, 230, and 4wd cam all in same day. The 250 cam is the best. You know how when you do donuts in 2nd or 3rd gear you can't rev it out all the way and sometimes you might even bog it down and stall??? That's the test I did with each cam and I could get the most revs out of the 250 cam.

Guess which one is the 250 cam

Are the 250 valve springs any stiffer to be able to handle the revs without float?

If they are, then not by much. Can probably compare part numbers n find out. The intake valve is 1mm bigger, so more mass to throw around too.

Default Carb Help!

I just put a carb kit in my 87 230 LTS. I am having a high rev issue. When I start it....it will rev like you have the throttle wide open. I have to shut it off right away. The throttle is fine. It has something to do with the air-idle screw circuit. The big brass screw. I replace the screw and made sure the spring and o-ring was on the screw. I tired backing the idle screw out 2 turns and everywhere in between, still did it. Even tried putting the old one back in. The fuel mixture screw is 2 turns out. WTF!!!!!!!!!!! Also, could a leaking MAG cover cause issues? My Mag cover needs to be replaced or welded and is leaking a bit. That is next on the list. LOL.

Or turn the idle speed screw out some or put some slack in the throttle cable.

Yeah it only can go in one way and it drops down in nice and there is slack in the cable? I tired adjusting both idle screws.
