Well, fellow riders (especially B&R) I might have to bail for this weekend Daughters have finals starting tomorrow and go into next week and they want to study(holding my heart) and this has been a bad week at work Haven't had time to even start on my quad If I make it, I'll hunt you guys down rescue

Ocotillo Wells is in the Anza-Borrego desert, and that's where we're supposed to go this weekend. It's also a great place to ride. The dogs don't care for it too much because there's no vegetation (to pee on). There's other interesting things to see there though, like the shell reef and pumpkin patch and those bubbling mud pots, blow sand hill, etc.
And Proraptor - now that I looked at where the 395 is, I don't know why we haven't tried that way. It seems like it could be even better depending on how open that highway is - seems more of a straight shot. I'll have to ask hubby about that one and see what he thinks.

Yeah those are the directions I got from the california ohv website...It is a pretty straight shot. Ive never been to ocotillo wells...I hear its a really cool place to ride but it seems a little far from my house...How long do you think it would take me to get there?

Everyone I know loves Ocotillo Wells, so you should like it as long as you like the "desert". And it's definitely that - a bunch of dirt, dirt and more dirt, with maybe a weed sticking out every 100 yards - a whole lotta nothin'. But it's huge and there's endless places to ride there. When I used to live in Orange County my son and his buddies would go there all the time, so they thought it was worth the drive. I like it because you don't need sand tires, but there are some sand areas there too if that's what you like. It's a lot of good riding there. Check out the websites - it shows photos and trail maps. http://www.desertusa.com/ovr/du_owinfo.html and http://ohv.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=1217
