Just found this site today and have been reading various topics when I came upon this one for CA riders. I thought I'd chime in here being a newbie too. My husband and I are in our early 40's, have a 16y/o son who lives with us every other weekend (my step son) , a 8y/o son and 5 y/o daughter. We have a dune buggy we got a couple of years ago then got a 2003 Yamaha Blaster a year ago. Been out to Ocotillo a couple of times but that's it 'cause we started a remodel last summer. Doing most of it ourselves so weekends were out for a looooong time! Most of it's done and we finally got a trailer to haul both the buggy and the quad so were going to try to get out for an overnighter to Ocotillo next weekend. We live in San Marcos ( North San Diego) so it's not too far. Didn't find Ocotillo too rocky either. I used to ride off road and ride 3 wheelers 20+ years ago. This is my husbands first crack at it. We'd like to get a second quad for the 16 y/o and one for the kids but haven't done much research into it. We went to Glamis with his brother and friends 10 years ago with buggys but I've never been there with a quad. Drove past there the Saturday after Thanksgiving 2003 on our way back from Puerto Penasco Mx and it was a madhouse to say the absolute least! Wall to wall motorhomes as far as the eye could see in several places and the dunes had so many riders on them it looked like ant hills! Probably not that way most weekends though. We'd love to meet others to ride and camp with who have kids or don't mind kids. I'm hoping to get the scoop on other places to ride that aren't too far away also. From what I've read this is a great forum with lots of friendly people! Look forward to chattin' with you!

Ridinfolks, it just really depends on when you go to glamis if it is crazy or not. Holidays very crazy, most of the other times its not that bad. I got a friend that lives in ontario he goes about once to twice a month in the winter he said usually it is not that bad. Just on big weekend, holidays. I went once last year and there definatly wasn't anyone there but us I think. It rained 3 of the 4 days there heavy rain. But we got some riding in. I'm going back I think late feb or early march. It is a long haul for me, I live in hanford that is about 8hrs away 420.58miles according to map quest. I made it in about 6 1/2 last year....

Back from Carnegie. Met some cool people. Nice to put a face to the names online.

Anyone got tips on moving couches? Yes, this is only the beginning.... Stay tuned.

Yea, just throw it in the back of that F150 Preferrably, AFTER you clean the mud from Carnegie out of it

Actually, I heard Karen is a soon to be PRO Except, she still is trying to master her technique
