We're staying home this weekend . . . have to (finally) do "house" things like mow the lawn, etc. But next weekend we're supposed to go to Red Rock Canyon in Cantil, CA (near California City?). I've never been there before. We're going with some of our other RVing friends who 4x4 with their Jeeps, but we'll be riding the quads. Has anyone ever ridden there? How's the riding?

Also, does anyone know anything about 2-stroke dirtbikes? My son's RM250 seems to be spitting out an awful lot of oil from the end of the pipe, and we're mixing the gas per the specifications on the bottle so it shouldn't be too rich. Does anyone know what could be causing it?

2-strokes pretty much have a drooling problem. Did it just start getting worse or has it always done it? My son can soak the packing on his wr250 after about 30 hrs riding. My 500r does it in about 20. If it is actually oil he could have blown a crank seal. Check his tranny oil level, if it has gone down that is it. If not it is probubly normal.

Can you get to the Slash X place from Hodge road?? I wouldn't mind checking out that place. Only been to Hodge rd once but enjoyed the riding there. Would be cool to have a place to aim for. Info on how to get there would be great. Thx.

Thanks Mywifesquad! We only got the bike a few months ago and it's always done it, but it runs/sounds great and starts on the first kick. If a crank seal has blown would the bike be running badly? I'll check the tranny oil like you said too. "Drooling" is exactly what it does and it also blows black crap all over his back fender and the back of his jersey gets all "dotted" while he's riding too.

My cr500 blew a lot of smoke suddenly and when I drained the oil only about 1/2 came out. It did not seem to affect power any, but it is a 500. Your sons bike may be a little rich but if it runs good I wouldn't sweat it, it is real hard to blow up a rich running 2-stroke. The fender splatter is normal, not to sure about the spots on the jersey though. Unless maybe he was riding with the wind to his back a lot. Like I say if the oil level is good, and it runs well, dont sweat it.

I hope there's nothing wrong with it - we'll have to check it out. Thanks!

I wouldnt worry too much. I find it hard to believe that there could be something wrong with a bike that starts on the first kick.
