Rockman;
How long have you been playing guitar? I have been taking lessons for about six months now. I suck This is really hard. I know lots of different scales, and quite a few chords. I can play Thunderstruck, the intro anyway. I can play most of Iron Man too. I have an American Fender Stratocaster, and a knock off les paul made by Samick. I have a 100 watt Peavey amp with 2 twelve inch speakers I bought at a hock shop. I want all the neighbors to know how bad I suck heehee.

lol... at a boy!!! lol

Had our first band in grade school. Started playing guitar at 13. Self taught, but I've always wanted to take some lessons. One of these years I'll get around to doing that. Guitar has a pretty steep learning curve, but once you get rollin it can be alot of fun. And it sounds like your gettin there Jay. I have a Peavey amp too, but believe it or not, I play mostly into the computer. Once in awhile, I'll plug the amp in and remind the neighbors who lives in ROCKMANS HOUSE!!! woohoo. I'm still amazed those old steel bars lasted as long as they did. My new ones are shweeeet though!! Still don't know when my bike is going to die...I keep trying to drive it into the ground, but those old Hondas just keep going and going and going....

Last ride, last season

Rockman, I wasn't aware that it was ever closed. I think the actual Juniper Dunes Wilderness is just that...wilderness. I couldn't find any good maps online or solid info, but from what I was briefly told by our host there are 3 seperate areas. One for riding, one for hiking and horseback riding, and one that is experimental where access is completely denied. There were fences completely bordering the ORV area. I'm not 100% about all that, just going on what he said. There were a ton of people riding when we were out there; bikes, sport quads, and a few utility quads, and when we left on Sunday, we saw a gov't truck (not sure what agency, but most likely BLM) entering the area with a quad in the bed. So, access must be allowed.

Anyway, I put together a video too, which I'll post as soon as Google gets around to verifying it.

Oh, yeah, I can play the first three...no, scratch that...the only three cords to Smoke on the Water over and over and over again until your ears bleed! We should get together and jam sometime!

The whole Juniper Dunes access had been closed off by the farmers who own all the roads into the riding area.
Vandals had tore up some of the farmers stuff and they all banded together and closed down access in.
For a while if you didnt have written permission from one of the surrounding farmers to get into the dunes you were givin a ticket by the Sheriff.
Maybe they got it all smoothed over with the farmers........I hadnt heard that yet.

One of the guys we were with did have permission, although not written, from the dairy farmer down the road to go past the gate (you know the one off the Pasco Kahlotus highway that is more of a hinderance that an actual gate). He was pretty upset that other people were going though the 'gate' as well, but I guess that's the norm now. Most people were parking before the gate, at what appeared to be the main staging area, and riding down the road to the dunes anyway, so who knows?

Here's the vid of the weekend ride...

Oh man do I wish that I knew how to put up pics here. I e-mail'd some to Eric/Ragged. Yesterday I rode down in Lewiston with fellow Respiratory Therapists Mike and Nancy and wow did we have a beautiful ride. Deep snow that was powder for about six inches on top, with a hard crust underneath so everything was white, but you could go anywhere. Then we broke out of the snow and there was the enormous canyon. It looks like the grand canyon to me. We saw a herd of God only knows how many elk. We guessed it was close to 100 of them. Wow what a ride!!

Don't you have to "shrink" the pictures so they don't take up so much room? How do you shrink them?
