If you're sure it's 500 miles I'd say go for $2500. Problem is I think the 01 Kodiak only has a trip odometer so I don't know how you'd be sure of the mileage. Check for any leakage at the water pump which was a known problem in 01. Also make sure the fan works which was another known problem. The main problem with th 01 Kodiaks was the hose and clamp at the intake of the auto tranny. If you buy it, loosen the clamp and silicone it before putting it back on. The first two problems weren't widespread but the last was. I'm not trying to scare you off because I had an 01 Kodiak and loved it! I'm just trying to educate you.

I drove it last weekend and yes its only a trip odo, but from the condition(minor scratches, no breaks) I believe the guy(older guy, 50's) when he says he has never reset it. He only has the original bill of sale, since he is the only owner. I just talk to him on the phone and got it for 2700, he was originally asking 3250. Thanks for the heads up on those items, I'll be sure to check it tonight when I go get it

The main thing is the hose going into the CVT case. Alot of Kodiaks out there with the hose problem. Some have went to the hardware store and used "Fernco couplers" in place of the connection but as long as you seal it and keep an eye on it, it will be OK.
You got a nice and fun machine that will kick the back end around easy. Have fun with it and let us know how it goes!

well it pushes snow great! and so far its been great. One slight problem though...it happened twice, when I went to put it in gear from netural (either to reverse or high) it would not engage, but grind...it would not grab to go into gear. I threw it into low and it would engage, then just lower it back to High. Does anyone think this is a major problem or is that normal for the tranny to do that when idleing a little high.....both times it happened it was warming up at about half choke and idleing high

It is a problem you get while high idling. Try to wait until the choke is off and the idle is low before shifting so that the gears mesh better. Have fun with that thing. The one I had was a blast!

My friend has a 2000 400 Kodiak with a couple of thousand miles on it and it still runs like new. Its acually better tthan a new one because they have a low range feature which Yamaha removed on the new 400.

You can tell if its low mile without a speedo,Find out what kind of tires those ATV came with new(I think the 2000s had Dunlop) ,if it has the same ties and there in great condition than it could not of went far. I never heard of someone replacing there tires with the exact same size and Brand and make of tire the originals where. ATV tires wear pretty fast so its hard to hide high miles.

Quick question...I do not have a service manual for my 01 Kodiak, can someone tell me where to find the spark plug? Which panel/panels I need to remove to access it? TIA!

my 02 kodiak will do that with choke on.try it with choke off. if it still does it you will need to lower your idle a little bit. i'm sure that is all it is. good luck
