Grizzly Silver paint plastic problems? Which color is best?

I was first going to get the silver, but i thought it stood out too much, so i went with the green. I personally think that the green fits the machine best. My friend accidentally turned it on its side on a gravel road and scratched up the side of the fenders, but the scratches are barley noticalble due to the color going all the way through the plastic. Thank goodness I didn't get the silver.

Silver catches the eye, I have silver, my wife has red only because they did not have anymore at that time. I would not recommend silver if you go through brush and tight trees with lots of hanging branches. I look at it this way, if it aint scratched it aint rode enough. You can always paint it later or just leave it that muddy color. (Grizzd-out in Florida)

The pics are awesome. I must get me some of the CV Boot guards with the Grizz etched on them.

Awe heck...you gotta go with what you like. Me, personally, when the time comes that the scratches are too much to bear (no pun intended) I'll simply have it repainted. It's not that much money be able to "stick out in a crowd"

I agree. Personally, I like the silver and I think it looks very apealling. But once i heared of all the paint problems with the silver, i went with the green. I just wanted something that nobody else had(I never hear of anyone else that has a green one). But around here, nobody else has a 02' grizzly anyway, except for my cousin who went with green becasuse he liked mine. Kinda defeated the purpose of trying to be origonal b/c he is the one that i usually ride with. Also we do a lot of hunting, so green went well.

I liked the green, too. I hunt as well, and have previously bought green quads. I bought an advantage cloth camo kit for the 'Cat, and really like that. Did you see the camo kit they had on the Grizzly, not the painted camo, but cloth kit. It really looked cool. 'Course, I =really= liked the camo Grizz too. *Sigh* Guess I liked 'bout every color the Grizz came in except the tan. Have you done any mods to your Grizz yet? If so which ones, and if not, are you planning to?

Yamaha had a similar problem w/ the camo Big Bear 400 4X4. They replaced he fenders due to stress cracking at the mounting points. Yamaha recommends the sales people inform customers that the plastic on the 02 silver Gizz 660 is painted and will scratch. Color Rite makes a touch up stick to cover the unsightly black scratches. If large sections of paint seperate and peel off (pressure washing)it will be up to your local dealer to take appropriate action. After reading the above posts it seems that clear guard is a good remidy for the problem. The silver Grizz is one of the sharpest quads out there.
