Well i found a really nice set of head lights they use H3 Halogen bulbs. Our quads run on ac. All the h3 bulbs i looked at didn't state if they were ac or dc they just said "12 volts" anyone have any idea?

 

Randy i did a tad more digging, and i read that the light bulb doesn't matter weather its ac or dc it only cares about the voltage rating. So apperently any bulb rated for 12 volts it doesn't matter if its ac or dc. And than after thinking about what you said and drawing to much current i had a brain storm just add a fuse into the line rated for 3 to 3.5 amps that way if it turns out bad you just pop a fuse and no harm to the stator.

 

i dont know. halogens produce alot of heat. and i would be cautious of the wattage rating myself.

 

my plan was just to do a 35 watter, that should put me at about 2.85 amps the stock light i measured at 3.3 amps earlier today so i think ill be safe expecially if i throw a fuse in. ughhh i just hate that stock light so much.

 

i have been digging aroun for a new lighting option myself.

They do make led bulbs but at the price of 40$ for 2 of them.

My plan was to weld a tab on each side of the openings in my front bumber and hook them in there was gonna have one pointing down for low and one going higher for high beam, but will only be running 1 at a time.

 

Well I never got around to measuring the lights... I tore my truck apart instead

 

that might be neat to see. im thinking about using a similar set up to a 350 warrior since i have a rear shock off one, might as well got for the lights too, lol. right now i am still trying to remember how to rig up LEDs for lighting up the underside of the new Mistress. i already got the neon green LEDs just got to figure out what resistors i need. they will run on an independant circut probly a 9 -18 volt circut. completely rechargable.

I'm just worried about the ohms of the bulb. Too few ohms and it will draw lots of current. I assume any bulb will be 12volt rated unless its for a flashlight or something.
