so the cheapo chains actually weigh a bit more then some of the others you listed. could you possibly tell me where i can get a EK 520MRDL6. is there a site I can order one from. my chain is about due a replacement. THANKS</end quote></div>

Yeah, I'd like to find one myself to see how much they cost. I was looking last night and found a 520MRD at either bikebandit or rockymountain, but not sure if its the same chain.

I haven't actually picked out my favorite chain yet, but just took some measurements of my old chain and my bud's 250s chain and all my sprockets I have laying around.

The stock chain is 6.86mm wide (space in middle where tooth goes). Looks like all EK's chains are 6.35mm. DID doesnt seem to list that one spec. My sprockets range from 5.5mm-6.1mm thick, so it doesn't matter anyway. My bud's 250s chain is 6.6mm wide,,, I was curious.

The stock chain had a 2.2 plate thickness. Seems like an overkill to me. 1.8 should do.

The roller diameter was 10.16,,, as is about every other chain I'm considering, so no big deal there....

And the pin length is 21.11 for the 230 chain and 18.26 for the 250s chain. All the chains I'm considering have around 16.8 - 17.6. I guess the difference is made up by the thichness of the plates.

I'd really like to buy from bikebandit coz I have 15% off, but they are SO expensive compared to rockymountain,,, not gonna happen. I guess I'll go to rocky n find what they sell n try to figure out what is what and what costs what and see if its do-able. Otherwise I'll be looking for somebody else to buy a chain from. I do like the 520MRDL6 though. Some of the others aint bad either. Its all going to come down to cost I think.

I can't believe this ****! It snowed yesterday so finally got all my errands done this morning and was all excited to go riding around the neighborhood in the snow and went for like 10 minutes had to come back to the house to grab a different pair of gloves and when I jumped back on the quad and tried to kick start it my steering stem broke. I guess I can be thankfull that I wasn't going 50 mph when it happened.

Just got home, gimped out to the shed, guess what?? My old ladies 230 has a weld in the exact same spot! Since I got both from my friend I called him up.. Mine was in pieces when he got it (came out of a truck on the freeway) that is why my stem is welded. Asked him why my old ladies was welded ( he bought it new in 93), his old lady flipped it trying to find "her balance point" doing wheelies..... hammered on new years eve probably 1999!! Mine was snapped like Gforce's, ole ladies just a hairline crack, Moral of the story....... Strap your quad while traveling, and it is hard to balance hammered!

Got a reply back from Kustom Kraft. "We have a 70mm and a 71mm piston available. The piston is made by Wiseco specifically for the big bore kit. I'm not 100% sure but this piston is most likely 10.25:1, I'm waiting on an answer from Wiseco, if it is different I will let you know."

To be sure I asked if there were oversizes in the mix,,, but I'm doubting there are. Looks like the best thing is to get a 70mm and then bore out to a 71mm once the 70 is worn out. After that, resleeve n start over.

Here's some number for ya:

66mm = 229cc
67mm = 236cc
68mm = 243cc
69mm = 251cc
70mm = 258cc
71mm = 265cc
72mm = 273cc

And if you can get 23.75 HP from a stock 230 piston then this is what my dyno software says:

229cc = 23.75
236cc = 24
243cc = 24.25
251cc = 24.5
258cc = 24.75
265cc = 25
273cc = 25.5

Looks like I'm spending a lot of loot for little gain. Going from a 243 to a 258 is only going to net me 1/2 a horse. From 243 to 265 might get me 3/4 horse. But compared to stock I have 2 extra ponies, lol.

The stock valve sizes are 32mm intake and 28mm exhaust. If we go up 1mm on the intake its worth 1/2 HP. 1mm on the exhaust is worth 1/4 HP. Of course, together its worth 3/4 HP. Anybody know where to get oversize valves???
