Ok, that makes more sense.[img][/img] So purchasing Vesrah's connecting rod for an LT230 and a LT250 Cam Chain should do the trick, Then it's just figuring the best method for raising the topend by 4mm.</end quote></div>
Well, Vince said he would do it all for no extra charge. Just send it to him for $129 and he sets the crank up and installs the rod. Not something you could do yourself anyway. You just have to worry about the cam chain and how the top motor mount will fit. And what to do about decking the piston or whatever you wanna do there.

So I'm guessing Vince uses the Vesrah rod. I'm not really worried about the top motor mount cause it's not static, in other words having bolts on both ends means it can probably adjust for the 4mm difference.

I think I'm not going to do the rod upgrade at this point I am currently sitting at $700.81, to this point and that is not figuring in having a machinist replace the valve guides/seals/springs/valves and cleaning up the horrific carbon deposits.
If and when I get everything in and put together and I find the quad shakes me off, then I will have to consider having the crank rebalanced and using the longer rod and all that entails.

No doubt its expensive. Vince told me when I got the big bore kit to be sure and have him fix up the crank. Otherwise I'd run the risk of having a bearing failure. Since it costs $129 with either rod, I decided to just get the longer rod. I was wanting to balance it anyway, so the rod didn't really affect that decision.
So long as you understand the risks to your rod bearings and you are willing to take the chance. According to Vince anyway. The local shops around here said not to use a BB kit because the rod wasn't strong enough, but Vince disagreed with that. He said the bearings are the weak link. I have no experience on that and I just have to take everyone's word for it. Other guys here on the board seem to get away with it and not have any catastrophic problems.... But I know the way I like to ride, lol, can't leave anything to chance even if it is a long shot.
I figure I have $1500 in it now... I'm planning to stick another $1000 in it with all these mods. $2500 for a brand spanking new engine designed the way I want it... On a quad designed the way I want it. My labor excluded, that's cheap!

Well the good news is, I am clear to re-injure myself! Kind of!! Atleast I can work on it.
Bad news, all this crank balancing talk is making me wonder if, the one I retrived, is the one with the balanced crank!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess I'll know when I kick it over..

Which one was it that you said used to buck like a branded bull??? The 273?</end quote></div>
Correct, 273. But when my crap was stolen I think I had 3 maybe 4 complete to semi complete engines. I am willing to bet I put the 260 on a stock crank!
