85 to 88 Suzuki LT230S Quadsport help.
I bought a carb kit from Hyperformance Parts for a 86 lt230. That was the cheapest site I could find. The sales guy was really helpful, but unfortunately Shindy (the maker of the kit) are not the easiest guys to deal with. The whole reason I ordered the kit was to get the needle jet 0-0. My kit was missing the jet, so Charles at Hyperformance mistakenly sent me another needle. In the end I never did get the jet and I just replaced the carb with a flat slide. The carb from the 230 ended up on my 220 Bayou and boy did it make a world of difference even with the worn needle jet.

I got the 28mm mikuni flat slide from bikebandit. The part of the carb that mounts to the head was just a hair smaller than stock, so I had to replace the stock hose clamp with one that would tighten down more. The only other thing I had to do was run a longer fuel line. The inlet on the new carb is on the other side. Other than that, everything else fits right together.

hadaveha, I don't know, but I'm assuming you just bought the bike??? Anyway, check the valve clearance (at least make sure there is some clearance). A buddy of mine just bought the 250 version and it had very little compression, but would still run. Turns out the intake valve had no lash. When the air filter doesnt fit snuggly or isnt there at all, the dirt wears the intake valve down so the valve spring pulls it farther up into the head and eats up the clearance. Check your valves, make sure the air filter is snug and clean, put the baffle back in or rig something up to act as a baffle, clean the carb real good with brake cleaner and compressed air, use bikebandit's website to view the exploded diagram of the carb and make sure you have all the washers and o-rings in the right spots (many times previous owners lose the small parts), put the clip on the needle in the middle slot or the 2nd from the top, clean the spark plug, set the gap and it should run pretty well. While you have the carb apart, check the needle for a worn out spot somewhere in the middle... If the needle is worn, you can forget gettin it to idle nicely. In that case turn the idle mixture screw all the way in use the idle speed screw to do the best you can while you decide if you want to buy a rebuild kit or a new carb. I doubt the CDI is the trouble, but I suppose anything is possible.

I think that your hitten all around the problem with the bogging. Id look at the floats and the valve. Check to be sure you have the correct specs. If you need, I can get them for you.
Bogging makes me think your not getting fuel from the bottom of the carb.
Try this, ride the quad, warm it up. Then try and recreate the problem. The moment it starts acting up, KILL IT ( the ignition) right there. Your looking to see the affect on the sparkplug.
It may take a few tries, ( wouldnt be a bad idea to get several readings to produce a baseline) but it is a very good way to find out what is going on.
Good Luck.
