Default LT230s Engine Swap

Well turns out running a quadsport, like many other machines, with a shredded oil pump is not good for the motor. Anyways my 87 quadsport is in perfect shape other than a seized crank and torn up case. I am looking to drop a new motor in it for cheap. I dont really care weather it is stock or not i just want it too move... The faster the better.

Any suggestions for a motor that pretty much drops into place?

what kind of riding? racing id say find a 2 stroke dirtbike engine or a 250r motor. if you trail a lot, a big 4stroke motor. but as far as i know, the only other engine thats a drop in is the lt250s engine. others have put in different engines but they had to modify them.

Mostly aggressive trail riding. I still wouldn't be turned off of a 2 stroke but 4 would be better. I can make new mounting brackets and some other modifications. I will keep looking for a nice 4 stroke and see if i cant jam it in some how.

look and see what you can find for a honda 400ex engine. its air cooled too but best i can see, that bike is pretty heavy. maybe that big engine in the small 230 frame would be a monster.

randy
that thing looks awesome. im curious to know what your 230 weighs. youve made a lot of weight cuts.

I think I had it down to 315 or so, but I'm sure its up now due to longer arms and swinger.

I weigh all the parts a long time ago.... I think the frame was around 20lbs and the engine around 30-40. Where does the other 250lbs come from? lol
