the 230 rod is weaker than the 250 rod. got that part. how weak are we talking though? since ive dropped the idea for a carb for now due to the loss of low end and over carbing it, i was wondering about the risk to the rod with a high comp piston. if i dont scream the p!ss out of it, will it be ok? id really like to not implode this thing 2 weeks out lol. i need to get this baby rebuilt before spring comes. i MUST have it done for little sahara.

No, but I could change the top mount to make them work.

230 rod is 16mm small end and the 250 is 17mm. The 250 rod is longer too.

Its hard to explain why a longer rod is better without writing a textbook, but the piston travels slower closer to TDC with a long rod than a shorter one. The opposite happens at BDC. We never break rods at BDC, so making the piston travel slower at TDC will help keep the rod together.

Unless you have a rod that is infinitely long, there will be a jerking action on the piston coming off TDC (intake stroke). The longer the rod, the less of a jerking effect. I just explained this in a PM... I knew I should have just went public with it... Anyway, there is only 1 stroke out of the 4 strokes that the rod pulls on the piston and that's the intake stroke. Obviously you're not going to break a rod by compressing it, you're going to pull it apart to break it. So, all breakings occur on the intake stroke.... and at a high rpm when the throttle is suddenly closed (creating a vacuum). Compression has nothing to do with it. Its weight of the piston, acceleration from TDC, and throttle position. Basically, its gonna break when you let off the gas.

Who was it looking for non-standard size rear sprockets? I found some on ebay, called to verify they will fit. They only have 4 or 5 36T and 37T left and once they're gone, they're gone! She said she can order more of the other sizes, which include 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, I grabbed a 36, 37, and 38. They only $20.

LT250S LT 250S NEW REAR STEEL SPROCKET CHOICE OF SIZE - eBay (item 190404543676 end time Dec-09-10 07:42:56 PST)

Now I can try that 36T I've been wanting to try for so long

12/36 and 13/39 are the same, so I didn't list the same ratio twice

ive had that bark before on a hard take off. i assumed it was the clutch. ive also had the clutch slip under hard acceleration in 3rd and 4th but i noticed it was the e-brake mechanism in the lever that kept the clutch lever from fully releasing. it held it in a bit. i lifted up on the lever and it popped all the way back. that is one reason im removing the entire e-brake mechanism when it gets put back together.

i see a lot or people have rear fender supports under their plastics. it looks like they bolt under the 2 back bolts on the plastics. were these on some 230s or all of them and im just missing them?
