Motor mounts line up, so its the same engine... just with a bore job, better rod, ports, valves, clutch, cam, 4th gear, and reverse lever that goes the right way

thats a good idea if i could find an engine cheap enough. but now youve raised a couple more questions: you mention the clutch and 4th gear. are they weak or something?

250 clutch has an extra plate. 4th gear is lower in the 250 so there's not such a big gap between 3rd n 4th... I'm sure you've noticed.

I figured if you think you can find a head, maybe you can get the whole engine.

Oh and the biggest piston you can put in the 230 without resleeving is 68mm. A 250 comes with a 68.5 stock. The jug is taller and more cooling fins too.

yeah, it was bad enough that suzuki made a new gear... significant cost to change production I would think.

I was going to the extent of changing 4th gear in my 230 until I found a 250 engine on ebay. Now its just a box of parts lol

$250 + sh. And the guy was a real pr!ck... ever other word was f$%k this n that and that sob did this n that to him to rip him off. I really felt like I was offending him by trying to give him money! So he wouldn't take paypal, credit cards, or nothing but a US postal money order. And he wouldn't ship it UPS.... Had to be on a crate and shipped to a factory where a semi could unload it. What a pain. Luckily the engine was like new.
