well ive ordered over $300 in parts today. 250cam, bars, light switch, hood, shock covers, new sprockets (12/39), parking brake block off and a shifter. sad thing is, ive got over $500 more to spend to finish the list.

ok so i picked up my new basket case and the swingarm was lengthened by adding material inbetween the shock mount an where the swingarm mounts to the frame, this being the case, it seems as if the stock rear shock will be too short, (haven't mocked it up to see yet). what would be a cheap alternative for a rear shock so that the length will be correct?

thanks,

randy.

well it depends on how short the shock is really. i would probly recommend a lt250s shock. or maybe fabbing up a new top shock mount may be the answer. if you can get a pic of it we might be able to help you better.

Alright guys i need help. i considered selling my 230, so i listed in on craigslist. So far i have an offer of $700 and $875. Most of you know how nutz i went on my rebuild. So the question is, how much do you think its worth? I have a little over $1400 in the whole bike including a spare frame that i have already restored, another perfect condition bottom end engine case set, and a ton of extra parts.

i bought mine for $1100. all stock aside from the rcm pipe. theres pics of it in my album. that being said, yours is twice the bike mine was then. i wouldnt take less than a grand if your desperate. id ask 1200-1400 for it. your bike is more or less brand new and its better than other 250 class quads being so light and a stroker.

i took it out yesterday to do some cold weather tuning, and the kid that offered me $700 saw it do a 75 foot wheelie on ice after i had it tuned with the RCM on it. I even ran the highest octane i ever used in it 104 if my calculation were right. And for a laugh i added a touch of alky before he rode it. So i know there a no performance issues with it.

Basically the kid said it was to old of a bike. the engine is off an 85 230 so its one of the first production blocks with an updated oiling system off an 88 model 230s. i told the kid i had receipts for everything and when i totaled it all up i had $1489.00 in it as of now with another $165 in the other frame.

i dont know about these people where i live. they low ball you and try to screw you over. if i knew for sure that i could get $1200 out of it i would deliver it out of state for the buyer.

just dont screw yourself and take less than a grand. itll sell, give it time. your time is worth more than $800. when people ask about age on something like this it kills me. its not a car. if its all brand new its newer than a 06 raptor so who cares? if age concerns them after all youve done to it, then they arent a worthy owner of a 230.

well i have started mocking up my basket case and it appears that my rear shock is about 2 inches to short now, that being said does anyone know of another quad or atc that uses a rear shock that is is 2 or 3 inches longer than the rear shock on a lt230s?

thanks,

randy.
