KingQuad sold that to me. He ordered it but it from Sprocket Specialists but it was so slow to arrive that he fabbed up a 48 tooth sprocket. He was so happy with the 48 tooth sprocket that he sold me the 43 tooth sprocket.
I think for crawling through gullies and rough stuff a sprocket upgrade is a must for this machine. It's cheap and very effective. Ours still goes plenty fast for our kids. The sprocket is our only mod, although I do want to get the pipe from CT Racing for more low end power.</end quote></div>
Did you have to saw one of the two black metal chain-guard tabs off to get that 48T to fit? Would I need to saw one off for even a 43T?

Yes and Yes I am pretty sure the 43 will noy fit with the lug on
But on the plus side the shield will still fit without the lug when I put the stock sprocket and chain shield back on for warranty work

I'd like to add a headlight to "the little slug". Has anyone done this? I'd like to wire it so that it comes on with the ignition.</end quote></div>
I haven't yet, but I'll be doing the same thing. I want to install LED type lighting since they have very little draw. They make a 1156/1157 type bulb with LED's , I just have to find lenses to put them in. If those have little draw, then I think that's what I'll put on. I have a SafetyGlow whip that I put on, installed a rocker switch to the battery so I can turn it on without starting the machine. Of course I don't leave it on hours on end, 15-20 min or so, still starts up.

Thanks. Yah I took that damn shield off, and I was just looking how close the stock sprocket is with the first tab.

Edkatt, Kingquad 450,
Are there two different CDI boxes? Is the one that CT racing sells(with a flip switch for RPM's) different than the one from Rite brakes? I called Rite brakes and they said thiers raises the rpm's to 7500. But the CT racing one says it will take from 8000 rpm's in one mode and the flip of a switch to unlimited rpm's. It is a difference of $55.00. With th
I guess my real question is this. Edkatt, are you happy with your CDI from Rite brakes? I have two mods for the quad in mind. First, the CDI, along with three weights removed from the clutch. I just want to get the right CDI and not regret it. Second, a bigger sprocket. I see people have used a 43 tooth and a 48 tooth. Any one have any suggestions? I think the larger 48 would be good for me because my yard and riding area is a little un even. I think the more low end I get the better it would be for our riding style.
Thanks for the help

Yoda, when I got my cdi, CT racing had just came out with that new switchable cdi. I mentioned that cdi to the guy at Rite brakes on ebay and he had never heard of it. Since it was more money I just went with the cdi from Rite Brakes. I think it is awesome!
I have my boys 50 right where I want it now. It took a lot of research and a little bit of time and money. If I had it all to do over again, the first thing I would have bought would have been the CDI. It has the biggest impact on the performance. Then take out 3 rollers and modify the exhaust. Thats free. I do have the k&n filter on mine but since I put that on, rejetted, and plugged in the new cdi at the same time, I dont know how much it did for it. But at least I got rid of the crappy stock air intake.
Anything you need help with just let me know.

EagerJeeper, I went to Pep Boys the other day and notice they have some new LED fog lamps made by I think PILOT. They had square and round, and still using little draw. Just a heads up........But they were $50.

With the standard Dynatek CDI I have yet to hear this thing hit the 7500RPM rev limiter even with only three clutch rollers. I doubt the higher rev limit on the CT Racing CDI is going to buy you anything. I imagine anything above 7500RPM you really start compromising reliablitly with these little motors. The valvetrain is not designed to handle that type of RPM for long...
Three rollers + CDI turn this little 50 into a whole new machine. It will now haul my butt up decent size hills.
