First off I have to say...thank you guys for taking it easy this weekend. I was up the hill playing in LJ's backyard (more on that in a minute) w/o any internet access. Funny thing is, didn't even miss it for about the first time.

Ok so this weekend I went up to the Company Condo (gotta love the perks) in the company truck (gotta REALLY love that) with my quad (awww gotta love THAT!) Had a nice relaxing time out exploring the trails and getting turned around and ending up where we weren't planning on going with LJ is his Jeep with his pup. Cool dog.

About 5 min. after getting back to the Condo 2 more of my friends show up (the one who got pulled over pulling a trailer at 85!). Anyways, her boyfriend just got a new Bomb DS650 Baja X. NICE bike. We went up to Miami for the day and had a blast. Nothing too technical (for up there anyways.) Finally made it through a series of ruts without having to get unstuck (Stagecoach off of Shady heading back to up 6S14 or whatever it is up there [for LJ]).

First time I've put fresh gas in since the beginning of July. It's been that long! Had to check to make sure 5th and 6th gear were still there...I took off down the road for about a 5 min. run and had to wait for about 1-2 minutes for my buds to "catch up." They were just having back from the massive cloud of dust. Had to plug one tire (got punctured last time I guess cause it was flat when I got there.)

Hope everyone else had a good time. And LJ wanna do a long distance run next weekend?

MD: I used to be a big COPS fan. Watched every weekend. One of the best quotes I used to remember was this one officer, something to the tune of, "I love this job! What other job can you go 60MPH down a one-way street going the wrong way!" While responding to a man with a gun call.

I'll try to be good...COPS is actually in Fresno right now for a few weeks filming....

Skinner, The feeling is quite exhilaratingIn Fresno hhmmmmn that could be good or bad. I guess it depends on how you look at itI can't watch those "real shows" even though it is filmed "live" it still is made for t.v. The local station used to run with our dept for awhile. I never watched it. I guess, when you live it, you can see through whats real and whats "for t.v."

It does sound like you are a little more relaxed from your weekend at the condo. Glad you had a good time and made it back safelyWhen things slow down for me and the rains start(to keep the dust down) We'll have to get together and ride.

Did you get to ride the DS650? That is a big machine. You know I've never had gas problems in any of my machines. Sometimes they sit 3+ months without starting. Although, I do try to start them every few weeks, if we don't ride for awhile

I'm gone for 3 days, you guys post tons and talked about nothing . Well, guess I better add to it.We went to an atv club poker run weekend. 2 days of riding and then we had to come home the day of the actual run because I had a business committment. but we still got 2 long days of riding more really cool trails. put on about 50 miles per day, with family and discovered some great stuff for future rides. we had about 50 people camped out and they were expecting around 200 for the Sunday ride.

psd pulled the Coquihalla great. man that's a long steep run to 6500 feet. I had to gear to 2nd for a fairly long stretch up steep grade, but it sure is easier on the tranny. can't believe I pushed it so hard before to go an extra 5-10MPH.

still can't figure out the Lowrance GPS I got for Father's Day. flagging ribbon works so well, and is pretty easy to use and is more reliable for re-tracing steps ( which is all I'm interested in the GPS for). and I bought a used digital camera for rides, but batteries died so i need to get good rechargeables for this one. once I figure out how to download from new camera, I'll send ya a couple of pics of the 4 quads loaded onto the deck.

yeah man.. We should try to ride up Shuteye. Everything is looking good for getting the quad back this week..
Glad you guys had fun. I wish i could have ridden this weekend.
I never did find out what that be cloud of smoke was yesterday. But i saw it lingering for the rest of the day. No sign of it today though. *shrugs*
Did you hear about that big fire near mariposa? I was thinking about driving up there but mom wouldnt let me go. Gee wonder why? lol We could see and smell the smoke pretty well. Its burned 400 acres so far. and only 10% contained. I can kinda see a glow tonight. But im not positive thats it though.

Dad was looking at used quads today online and he saw a nice used Ds650 for sale for like 4600. He asked what it was and i said my dream quad.. lol He said "oh".. lmao

Btw Stagecoach rocks!!!

MD: Yeah, the FPD Chief (Dyer) was worried about the way Depts. were portrayed. There's an order about not playing up to the camera and just do their job. They are supposed to be riding with some of the special crime units or whatever they are called. Used to be called VCSU (Violent Crime Supression Unit). That was a big deal when they started it up...were running 4 man units from the SWAT team in each car. Made for some good pics on the front page of The Bee up here....fully geared up SWAT guy pointing an MP-5 at someone on the ground...you can only guess how well THAT went over with some people.

The nice thing is that the mud isn't all that nasty up at Miami. Ends up being more soupy, not sticky nasty stuff. Have to watch those 6th gear runs over little rises in the road...cause it drops you into a big puddle on the other side. Friend with new DS has an LT250 that he soaked the filter in 2x up there. You can get a nice rhythm going around the corners up there...have to be on your toes for other riders and cars. I've come close to some head-ons with cars.

We ended up behind this guy going REALLY slow in a Toyota T100. If we tried to pass he would try to squeeze. So I pulled a NASCAR trick and set him up. Kept going for the drive side. He had to come over for rut to the drive side so I let off cranked it right hammered down....I think he got a little dusty when I took the next corner and hung the back end out for him. He did the same thing to my other two friends. I didn't see him do it, but they said he tried to squeeze me off the side of the road. That's the ONLY time I've ever been a rude rider.

I didn't get a chance to ride it. I'm rather skiddish of riding someone else bike. Don't want to have to pay to fix it if I break it and definately don't want a ruined friendship over a bike. I've ridden on a DS before just quick pulling some donuts at Pismo. They are nice machines. I love the fit. More upright and standing up on the pegs is less of a strain.

Only thing mine does is it seems to puff a little blue after she's sat for a while. Not sure where the oil is getting in there. But once she's warm she doesn't do it. It did it last weekend when I cleaned it up and put the nobbies on. But didn't do it this morning.

We only road Stagecoach south of Shady. Didn't get stuck. Had to rock her a few time on belly and rear skid but not much. I'm getting the hang of that section. We didn't go south of 6S24 on Stagecoach. I think that's the ever nastier section. Shawna was sore and didn't want to hit Kiser. I think I would have done a decent descent this time.

Bike was running awesome too. If felt soooo good just to get out and open it up the roads. I owned all on 6S15, 24, 17, and 41. A few close calls on 17 had me backing off. No rattlers this time. I was staying in 5th on 41 when I came up on that d0rk (oh come on...that word is filtered?) in the T100. Picked him up after 41B. Wasn't that far but the cars & trucks just have to drive so flippin SLOW.

So were gonna hit Shuteye? That works.

I saw the smoke when we left this evening. Figured something was burning somewhere. Also seen a dozer on a CDF Lowboy when we were pulling up the climb heading south out of Oahusrt. Lovely...get to stop dead 3/4 of the way up. Seen two crew trucks heading up when I got down to Chuckhoweveryouspellthatflippincasino in Coursegold.

I saw a couple of nice cars getting off of 41 @ Herndon in Fresno. A Jag E-tupe (green) on a car hauler and some kind of orange 50 hotrod. The plate was something with 50 in it. No clue what it was though.

Hey guys, i've been lurking for a while but thought i would post again. The DS 650 is an awesome quad. They are very very reasonable used and they are probably the most reliable quad out there. I've yet to have to take my DS back to the dealer. I upgraded from a 2000 to a 2002 baja and now a 2004 baja x and they have all been perfect quads without a single problem.

Back to the topic, how are all of your PSD's running. Mine is still running good. Had a great time out at Sand Mountain over labor day weekend. We had a get together called DS Days out there and had close to 40 DS 650's. It was awesome. Several of them were turbo charged and lots of them have nitrous and big bores.
